Overview

Räz Däne Lÿhv was founded durring the late 14th century in summer of the year 1283, by Yaw̄y Jórmbó̄b 'Jojo Marissa' Sē̌sh Rē̄ Cú̄oīr. The establishment of Räz Däne Lÿhv was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Yaw̄y Jórmbó̄b 'Jojo Marissa' Sē̌sh Rē̄ Cú̄oīr struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Räz Däne Lÿhv as a prison colony.

Räz Däne Lÿhv was built using the conventions of Undermountain durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Räz Däne Lÿhv is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Räz Däne Lÿhv is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt paverstone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The city has a set of well fortified walls, with gatehouses, watch towers, battlments, and even a moat, which are fashioned from stone and timber. Räz Däne Lÿhv's walls are, howeaver, fashioned from stone and timber. While unorthadox, the design looks to be functional to a reasonable degree. With luck, the untested design will remain untested for years to come. Unfortuantly, these unusual though effective defenses are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Räz Däne Lÿhv is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the city like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. You get the terrible feeling that whatever it was, the wound it left will simply never heal. This city is as a necropolice.

Cultural Notes

Religious leaders are influential in almost any community, but in Räz Däne Lÿhv they make up the final authorities. It may be an explicit theocracy, with rule by the clerics of a particular faith, or a temple might be so important and powerful that the official leaders are helpless to resist its will. The locals can be expected to be loyal adherents to the faith, or else the less pious majority is deeply intimidated by the religion’s believers.

Räz Däne Lÿhv's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used makes use of a large oblong hall or building with double colonnades and a semicircular apse and symmetrical central-plan, resulting in buildings with a square central mass and four arms of equal length. Decorative features included domed rooves, arches, soaring spaces, and sumptuous decoration: marble columns and inlay, mosaics on the vaults, inlaid-stone pavements, and sometimes gold coffered ceilings.
